Student Involvement

Student involvement and a sense of belonging to the community are critical to student retention and success. The School of AAFNR includes several high impact practices for students to engage in.

Ag in Action

This program involves several hundred elementary and middle school students in tandem with an army of university students, providing mentorship and career path opportunities to grow the pipeline of students for our Applied Ag, Food and Natural Resource programs.

Ag Learning Community

Data shows that students involved with our campus learning communities have much higher retention and graduation rates than their peers who are not part of these learning communities. Recall my statement earlier about the importance of the sense of belonging and community – each of which is the primary purpose of our learning communities. The Ag Learning Community brings first-year students pursuing Ag-related majors together as a strong cohort that has a high likelihood of academic and professional success.

Ag Today Club (login required for current students)

This a recognized student organization promotes student interest in Ag through education, networking and service.

Henze Ag Innovators Leadership Development Program

This program targets upper division students as they prepare to enter industry. While this program has been highly successful to date, we feel that it can scale up even more to impact additional students as our Applied Ag programs continue to grow.
